Anesthesiologist vs CRNA?

I've been reading up on both professions and I've got to admit: being a CRNA is a LOT more appealing than an anesthesiologist. CRNAs make averagely $160k. Yes, anesthesiologists make about $200k, but when salaries are that high. I really don't see a difference. All I want is a nice apartment in NYC and a good amount of spending money. The main thing is the schooling. I have always been scared of committing myself to medicine for 12+ years. I don't want to be THIRTY before I get out of school. CRNAs only need 6-8 years, which is much better in my opinion. What do you guys think?

Also consider anesthesiologist assistant.

It really all depends on whether you want to be the boss (anesthesiologist) or to work under someone else’s supervision & direction (anesthesiologist assistant, CRNA).

~~~
BTW, you’ve underestimated the average salary for an anesthesiologist. It’s in the $350-$450K range.
