<p>Just because you are the man and you seem to know everything, do you personally know any anesthesiologists? How do they seem to like their job? How hard do you think Anesthesiology residency is, in comparison to other residencies? How important is a fellowship and will I be able to find a job after finishing residency.</p>

<p>As a high school sophmore, I am MANY years away, however, I would just like some insight on specific specialties. I have been very interested in Anesthesiology. To my suprise, I heard from someone that they are often looked down upon by surgeons. That didn't sound right.
Right now, I am just studying hard and trying to eventually get accepted to a combined BA-BS/MD program (prefferably 6-year) and continue on to residency. I am just exploring the different specialties, searching for a specific goal (specialty). I like to have my mind set, however, I allow myself to change the goal, but I continue to work hard. </p>

<p>ALSO, I am in Brooklyn New York. I have been to MANY sites reguarding summer programs. I would like to know if there are any that you can reccomend that will really give me an excellent science/medical experience, that will of course be appraised by college admission officers. Thank you very much for your time!</p>

<p>Anesthesiology is really quite competitive. To pursue that path, a good college in which you get with very high grades will lead you to a good med school and then to the possibility of securing such a high prestige residency. It seems too early to talk about the peculiarities of each area of medicine now though; even med students have a hard time comprehending how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together early in their studies.</p>

<p>my dad is an anesthesiologist who completed his residency a few years ago. if you have questions about it, i might ask him for you.</p>

<p>however, he went to med school in china, so i don't know how much he could tell you about colleges/programs.</p>
