Its karma my friend: Gabe has only gotten what he too has dispensed...

"Open discussion and attacking people with the vehemence you've shown are two different things altogether."

If you consider giving someone a strong opinion an attack, than yes I guess I'm quite the perpetrator =)

A "strong opinion" and clearly launching into ad hominem attacks and soothsaying bad things for someone else are two different things altogether.

Its karma my friend: Gabe has only gotten what he too has dispensed...

What are you talking about? Karma refers only to the actions you make, not the consequences.

Are you thinking of the Golden Rule or Lex Talionis? Either way, aren't you still deserving of our "horrible" treatment in return for "horrible" posts like the one directed towards gabew42?

Gabe has given far more productive advice than IwannaIvy. This guy is simply here to harass anyone he can. You wanna Ivy? Well, why not start acting like Ivy material? Grow up, sweetie. Maybe then Harvard will take ya.

Thanks.

I take iwannaivy as a humorous character. He's pretty funny.

I do not believe in Karma anymore. I do good deeds and Karma only works against me, never for me. Therefore, I adhere to the principles of Random Chance. Stupid Buddhism can stuff it's beliefs in a sack :semi-serious face

Just butting in here, but I have found these boards to be somewhat hostile. I've been lurking for a while and haven't felt such animosity on an entire board level since another far less... scholarly site called Fametracker imploded.

It seems as though certain people really enjoy viciously cutting down others. People are here looking for opinions, not verbal attacks. Just had to get that out.

dot_parker, I suggest you don't let the ignorant have such an affect on your college forum life. Ignore the stupid and move on.

dot_parker,

I think that while it's true that hostility goes around, this board CAN be incredibly helpful.

Oh, I do ignore it and this board is quite helpful, but the snide comments have become more and more unavoidable.

I think I've admittedly gotten more cranky this month. I just think IWannaIvy is a doofus.

Besides, every forum needs its angry, but loveable, troll hunter.

"Besides, every forum needs its angry, but loveable, troll hunter"

Then I guess its a good thing that he has about 9 posts a day...

gabew42 Hope everything works out for you, and I agree that this forum can sometimes be too time consuming...yet still helpful ;)

Its interesting to see that this thread, that discusses absolutely nothing meaningful became two pages.
gabe-I doubt that opening a thread about you spending too much time in CC was the right way to STOP participating at this forum.
The fact that you posted here YESTERDAY kinda contradicted the entire purpose of this thread.

HA. As I said, I was trying to get a draft done...which I did...kind of. Now I have thrown out a question and I have about 700 words to write!

I read your essays gabe. They weren't complete. Do you want me to review your completed one?

I agree with you guys. Everyone needs to chill out.

Perhaps we can make amends.

Works for me.

It's not done, kevintech.

Unless there is a change in attitude, no improvement will occur.

Perhaps the most crucial principle in understanding advice on this forum is that almost nothing is certain; nearly all of our claims are speculative to some degree, and they reflect our experiences in this field. You make your posts carry weight, as if they were somehow more authoritative than any other advice. Unless you understand that disagreement is not only possible, but probable, this forum will remain the so-called 'battlefield' for a while to come.
