Annoying Required Classes

PE/Health: The good thing is that it is only one semester.

Arts: Not needed for graduation, but needed to get the Academic Scholars seal on your diploma (while keeping a 3.25 UW and doing the requirements)

We have tons of required classes because they regulate our academics as well as our health/gym/etc classes.

We need four semesters of gym, one semester of health, two semesters of fine arts, six semesters of math, six semesters of science, eight semesters of social studies, eight semesters of english, and a grand total of thirty six credits (1 semester=0.5 credits) to graduate.

Ugh.

Health: Required freshman year. Semester long.

World Geography and Culture: Required freshman year also. Semester long too.

Economics: Senior year. Semester long.

American Government: Senior year. Semester long.

Gosh they take up so much valuable space on my schedule.

Gym for two full years. I play a sport too, so it’s a massive waste of time and I have to drop Latin as a result. I also find social studies unbelievably boring too.

Health: The earliest you can take it is sophomore year, and it’s a semester long.

Freshmen have to take a class called World Cultures, which from what I hear is basically just review of middle school history. Thankfully I came in sophomore year and didn’t have to do it.

Gym: You have to do it freshman and sophomore year. After that, you’re not allowed to take it unless you’re one of the school athletes.

There’s a requirement for two semesters of visual or performing arts. I personally didn’t find it annoying because I’ve been involved in music all four years, but I could see how it’d be annoying to fit in a random art, drama or music class just to graduate.

At the school I went to freshman year it was required to take two years of the same foreign language. Again not something that I personally thought was annoying due to staying in Spanish for all four years, but there were a lot of complaints about it.

Gym and lunch
I would rather have two extra classes a day than lunch or gym

P.E. is required for two years, but I only took one semester because I got a health waiver after my back surgery.
Freshman year, instead of taking a social science, we are required to take a semester of health and a semester of technology. I hated health because of how awful my class was. Technology was really easy, and I would finish each unit two weeks early. Then I couldn’t do anything because it was “too distracting” to the other students. Literally all I could do was stare out the window.
