Since Fall 2002 they have been using the wait list more and kept the class size about 1640 students.

Its not really that low compared to other universities. I believe that my class currently has the highest yield rate (2010-69%) http://daily.stanford.edu/article/2006/5/30/admitYieldIncreasesBy2Percent.

As you can see most of the students that declines Stanford went to HYPM. Stanford might not have the highest yield rate but its catching up!

wait, how do you already know stats for the class of 2008? I thought stanford wouldn't be done sifting through everyone's application right now?

not the high school class of 08

(HS= Class of 04)

God. Those transfer stats are scary.

I doubt they can go through 11,000+ applications with a level head. A lot of it comes down to luck i fear. The admissions guys mood is a lot more of a factor than ECS I fear.

Stanford, Yale, or Columbia. All I want is admission to one. C'mon Karma! :(

Hey, would you guys happen to know the average or median ACT score for Stanford this year? Thanks.

Why is there a yield for early action. I thought it was SCEA (single choice early admission)

lssd2012: SCEA is early action, not early decision. Thus, even though you're bound to apply exclusively to their school early, you are NOT bound to attend if accepted.

Still, despite the non-binding, the yield tends to be really high since oftentimes, applicants who get in may just not apply regular decision to other schools at all.

25,298 applicants (including 4,551 through SCEA)
2400 admitted (including 738 through SCEA)
Of those admitted, 431 students will be the first in their families to attend a four-year college or university.

This projects an overall admit rate of 9.7%, pending waitlist action and "summer melt."

^ 8% admission rate for RD people. that's not bad. stanford waitlist gives me some hope for monday, then.
