So next year is my senior year in highschool, and i just finished my scheduling. I am taking one AP Class, and four honors classes, and i was wondering if i should be taking another AP (European History), instead of my Honors Model U.N class, as i assume it would look better for colleges. I am really looking forward to the Model U.N class, however i am only taking ONE AP CLASS. Will colleges really care that much if i am taking an honors course instead of an A.P Class? Is it worth it for me to have one more “A.P” on my transcript?
It does not matter that much.
It probably will not matter, but it really depends upon what type of colleges you are targeting as well as what type of courses other students applying for those colleges will be taking.
A few colleges have told me (penn and yale, at least) that they prefer hard AP classes to interesting electives. Penn’s example was that they’d prefer AP Chem to anatomy on a student’s transcript; even a nursing student. Of course, I think that the model UN Class displays more passion. Consider which you’ll do better in, which relates to your interests, and whether or not it will make a difference on your transcript (if you have enough APs or they’re a little lacking).
Yeah youre totally right, i will keep that in mind. Thanks for all of the responses!
