COMMON APP... and does the suplemt require anything like a teacher rec or a transcript to be sent?

thanks

speedhunter12,
are you applying early decision?

nope im rd

Stats are kinda similar to mine, I'd say shoot for it but it's not HUGELY likely. Yeah you need to send transcripts and request (2 I think) recs from teachers.

actually I'd say it's hugely unlikely. I know a kid from my school who applied ED and while his gpa is significantly lower (3.6 UW), it is supplemented by an all-IB curriculum and a 34 ACT. He is captain of 3 HS teams, did music for 11 years, among a large number of other noteworthy accomplishments, and HE thinks that his chances are nonexistent, I bet him $100 bucks that he'll get in though, and we're about to find out his decision :).

scherzo123

i might be blind but i dont see that anywhere on the suplment

i lost the bet :(

Character and personal qualities are on par with academic achievements at the top schools, and good candidates have both. Also, while good test scores will never completely substitute a poor GPA, they do show academic promise and can help adcoms to overlook a GPA that's slightly on the weak side (3.5-3.7), assuming the rest of the application is very strong. Remember, these people WANT to accept everyone, they just don't have enough spots...

Duke is a top tier school that revolves slight more around liberal arts than the sciences. With english scores like that I can honestly tell you to go apply somewhere else.

speedhunter- no need to be rude or nasty, with an attitude like that you'll get in nowhere

i apologize for trying to be helpful- i was refering to the fact that you need an offical transcript sent to your school

once again i apologize for trying to help

scherzo123
i did not mean to be rude i just had not seen the additional forms tab at the top (commonapp.org) so i was confused and i was just asking and saying i am probally overlooking it

thanks again

No prob :)
