Hey all, I know these chance me threads often don’t mean much but I’d really appreciate some feedback, I feel like I’ve been so caught up in the application process that it’s starting to become hard for me to judge my own app.
Really hoping to join Middlebury or Georgetown, as their neuroscience majors seem like the most comprehensive programs of their kind. Same goes for Tulane and Grinnell but to a lesser extent. These are just my “reach schools,” I still have a ton of solid matches and safeties I’d love to go to if I didn’t get into one of these four.
ACT: 34
SAT II: Math1 (720), Biology (750)
GPA: 3.8 (rigorous independent school, increased from 3.6 in 9th to 3.8 in 10th to 4 in 11th)
AP: Biology (5), APUSH (5), Calc AB (4), World History (5)-WH was a self study
Senior Course Load: Organic Chemistry, AP Calc BC, MUN, Chinese 4 (might test into AP), AP Lang
Major Awards: state science fair honorable mention, commended for NMS
Extracurriculars: Green Committee (founder/co-president 10th, 11th, 12th), Mental Health Awareness Club (founder/president 11th, 12th), Squash (varsity 4 years, 12th team captain)
Volunteer: counselor for kids with Down syndrome (9th, 50 hours), Emergency Room volunteer (11th, 100+ hours), interned at local homeless shelter (11th, 12th, 100+ hours), created a school-wide program to help reduce test anxiety (connected to science fair) which has resulted in better test performances across the board
