@ConcernedK
Can you tell me the e-mail address of CB? I would like to urge it to solve this problem.
They know the problem but I see that CB doesn’t have interest to stop cheating. They used the same recycled test over and over.
@TohsakaRin was the recycled test nov 2010 for everyone?
@Jr12317
No. Nov 2010 was for students who took test in Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam and Macau (or including some other areas I don’t know ), not for students who took test in Singapore or Hongkong.
Test centers in Hongkong and Singapore used recycled test paper from June 2014 international SAT. But that paper has become available on the Internet since July 2014, so I say it is “unfair” since most students have already written that paper before take SAT test in January.

Be sure you provide the link to the june2014 exam to prove how it was commonly available

Nov 2010 was administered at most of the other international locations. And TohsakaRin, do not underestimate those cram schools. Chances are, some students DID take a look at that test beforehand.
@ConcernedK
Hey ConcernedK, you seem to forget that a few days ago, you mentioned that a bunch of Korean academies were distributing the June 2014 domestic U.S. exam to students; however, everyone in Korea is saying the October 2012 international exam was the one that came out on Saturday’s January exam.
Care to mention why this was so, and why you had spread the false rumor in the first place?
Also, it is true that the June 2014 international exam was reused in Hong Kong and Singapore, but that is NOT the same exam as the June 2014 domestic exam, which you and some newspaper article mentioned was the one that would come out on Saturday’s exam.
And now you’re telling us to contact the College Board to tell them to stop the cheating when it was YOU who ignited the false alarm and got everything wrong?
What gives???

“Earlier this week, FairTest received a link to what purports to be the test form that will be used this Saturday in China and South Korea,” said Schaeffer. “It appears to be a recycled copy of a June, 2014 SAT given in the U.S.”
I say we boycott this reporter and FairTest.
My question is this: How in the world did FairTest receive a “recycled copy of a June, 2014 SAT given in the U.S.” that was supposed to “be used…this [past] Saturday in China and Korea” when that particular domestic June exam wasn’t used at any international testing site???
EDIT: Not trying to defend the College Board in any fashion, as its recycling of past domestic and now international exams is a despicable practice, as another poster bluntly put it, but can we at least get our facts straight? Would love to hear an explanation from both ConcernedK and FairTest on this matter, because I think it is extremely unfair to have targeted Koreans this time in such an accusatory manner without any concrete proof.
I know for a fact how a current SAT teacher in Korea tried to take a picture of the SAT test in Guam in the past. Using some sort of glasses with a built-in micro-camera, “brokers” or some “rockstar-teacher-wannabe” would take the test in the U.S. and make a database. Also, I know for a fact that some cram schools buy these tests in advance and distribute them to the VIP students. It is not at all absurd to take the claim of FairTest to be legitimate.
I appreciate how AlfredoKim brought up the issue of how the June 2014 domestic test was not used for the January 2015 International test. However, the fact that October 2012 International test was recycled instead of June 2014 does not in any way help the situation.
I had a student coming to me a few days ago, telling me how she was able to get over 700 (-7 on the CR) on all the international unreleased tests from 2011 to 2014. She somehow was able to “access” these tests- I am sure she got over 750 on this January test because apparently she took the exact same test beforehand.
And I did not just begin spreading the news. Please read the original comment. I reported what I heard, even though it was without much evidence and even though I knew this could have turned out to be a complete rumor, because I had been frustrated by the rampant cheating happening across the country in the past 2 years.
“Some Korean private SAT prep companies are distributing 2014 June Domestic SAT to students (I do not know how they got access to this), claiming that it will be recycled for the 2015 January.”
@ConcernedK I really don’t know about these other so-called facts, nor do I care. And I’m not here to antagonize or accuse you. My point of contention is based on what you said in your previous post. You did seem rather certain that the January exam was going to be a repeat of the June 2014 domestic exam and insinuated that people in Korea were again cheating without any real proof. Now, if the January exam was a repeat of June 2014 domestic, not October 2012 international, I would have nothing to say, and if there were no mention of any Korean academies or students you randomly accused of cheating, I also wouldn’t have said as much. I’m also not here to say that nobody in Korea cheats, because many, in fact, do cheat. But since you made up unsubstantiated claims about Koreans cheating in January and spread them so shamelessly on the net without verifying the facts, don’t you think you owe an apology to all the honest Korean students and teachers?

“Be sure you provide the link to the june2014 exam to prove how it was commonly available

You contradict yourself, because you seem to think that people won’t know the difference between the June 2014 domestic exam and the international June 2014, which are two very different exams. In one of your posts, after someone claims that the June International 2014 was recycled in Hong Kong, you seem to feel vindicated, as if “Ha. I was right! June 2014 was used! Let’s report it to the College Board!” Yet, you forgot to mention that it wasn’t the DOMESTIC June 2014 that was recycled. So what gives?
“I had a student coming to me a few days ago, telling me how she was able to get over 700 (-7 on the CR) on all the international unreleased tests from 2011 to 2014. She somehow was able to “access” these tests- I am sure she got over 750 on this January test because apparently she took the exact same test beforehand.”
This doesn’t really make any sense either. So if this student “took the exact same test beforehand”, you’re saying that she told you she took the October 2012 international unreleased exam; otherwise, had would you know this information? And if that were the case, how come you didn’t tell us all it was the October 2012 international unreleased exam that was going to come out this past Saturday. Why did you tell us it was the June 2014 domestic exam? Apparently, if this student with whom you had contact “took the exact same test beforehand” and you knew about this, you would have known it was the October 2012 international exam, not June 2014 domestic, no?
@AlfredoKim I fully take the blame for the alarm my original post might have caused to innocent students and teachers in Korea.
When I first heard the rumor, I was alarmed myself and my intention was to preclude cheating and save those innocent students by letting the CB change the test for January, and further, use new tests for the international location in the following test dates.
My knowledge of the cheating has been always “after-the-fact” rather than “before-the-fact,” which made me feel powerless. I feel the Fair Test might have decided to post the article for the same reason.
I promise I won’t post anything like this or share any information about the possible recycling on the web as to avoid any negative consequence as you pointed out. However, I will continue to report to college board if I directly receive text messages from cram schools or hear stories from students what tests may be recycled for the upcoming test date, even if there is 1% chance of the rumor to be true, not in order to put to shame the entire Korea, but rather to stop the on-going cheating phenomenon.
P.S.
please read my previous comment. I am frustrated because every time I notice cheating, it is after I see what test was recycled. My students came to me not to boast that she had access to what would be on the test, but she wanted a counseling because although she was supposedly scoring in the 700 range on such unreleased tests she took, she was getting something around 650 on all the released domestic tests. I know she would have gotten a better score than she deserves, because, if what she told me was true, she took all the unreleased international versions of the tests from 2011-2014.
Oh please. One can deflect from the main issue-- cheating. Concernedk- you have the right to post anything you want. For someone who says they aren’t trying to antagonize… well…
Yes, I think that fighting against cheating and telling CB about that it is just a waste of time. This issue has been for years and TCB can’t stop it. as @jym626 said you can post whatever you want.
Okay, fair enough. I was antagonizing, and for that, I apologize. And if there is any sort of cheating, one should certainly report it to the proper authorities or entities, but to come on here and make these threads “HEY! THE KOREANS ARE CHEATING AGAIN!” isn’t right, especially when they’re totally bogus. I speak as a Korean who actually believed this rumor myself until I found out it was totally false.
Bogus? You think there is no cheting going on in Korea and China? You think some test scores or administrations were cancelled in the past by TCB out of whimsy?
