Collegeboard recycling tests

FYI, Collegeboard has been reusing tests if you guys haven’t noticed so far. December 2014 was the same as November 2013 and January 2014 was the same as November 2013B. I can’t believe they are this lazy lol

Same as international or u.s exams?

@TopOne‌ both, i think

Can anyone predict what the reused sat will be for the jan 24 tests that were rescheduled due to weather?

@9penn9‌ It won’t matter, they are unreleased tests.

I predict it will be the August 2004 exam. Either that or the April 2019 one.

@sonofgod‌

Collegeboard is probably focused on creating content for the new SAT beginning 2016, and I am pretty certain that they will not be devoting energy to create new SAT tests, and instead recycle the old ones. Not the best situation because it will skew scores.

Correct. There’s virtually zero percent chance ETS is investing any more money in the creation of a soon-to-be obsolete exam.

I don’t understand. Regardless of whether the exam will be obsolete, if they use the same tests, won’t that allow all sorts of cheating?

@sattut – Yes, and Captain Renault might be shocked that all kind of cheating has been taking place in Asia!

If they recycle tests, they are going to have cheating problems in the US. Is that there strategy for regaining market share?

This isn’t entirely related, but are the international tests and domestic (is that the right word choice???) tests the same? I’ve been doing some past international tests my dad found and I don’t know if there’s a chance CB would reuse international tests for the January makeup exam in the US.

They are the same but they are not given on the same day. So the Jan 2015 SAT was actually three different tests: one in the US (domestic), one international, and another for select international locations (Singapore and Hong Kong, afaik). That said, they are not different material and each test (that isn’t released) may be recycled for future use–Jan 2015 in Korea, for example, was the October 2012 international exam.

Are the recycled tests old QAS, or do they only recycle unreleased tests?

@CHD2013‌ They are only unreleased tests.

@sonofgod908 is correct.

Yup they are recycling tests for sure since some people actually just memorize several different sets of tests and take the ACT ! This is the ACT strategy used in asia! The act has 8-10 different sets and just simply recycle them!!

Yes, not to mention the ACT has even more abysmal test security than the SAT at this point. ACTs are sent to test centers weeks in advance, and instead of being under lock and key, or even sealed, they’re opened by test center admins to make sure everything’s okay. The mind boggles.
