Another Concerned Rising Senior.

Hi,

I am a rising senior and I can’t help but to be worried about college applications. My main concern is the fact that I had a really low freshman GPA, it was around 2.1. My GPA has been getting better as the years go by, my sophomore GPA was 3.7 and my junior GPA is 4.2. There is also a background story to my low GPA, I just recently had moved to the United States (I used to live in Southern Mexico) after being out of school for 2 months, so my freshman year was only like a month or so. I also experienced a strong family loss during my freshman-sophomore summer but I was able to overcome it and concentrate on school and my grades although it changed my family and environment completely. I have been taking classes at my local community college and I also took 3 classes at UCSD, and I also will be working at a chemistry lab in SDSU until I graduate HS. I just recently founded a STEM club at my school and a Tutor-students association club. I am interested in pursuing a biomedical engineering degree when I go off to college. My dream school is Harvey Mudd, but I am also considering other UC’s, and I wanted to know what my chances were, specifically to Harvey Mudd since I would really love attend that school. I am a URM female that wants to become an engineer. I will continue on attending my local community college until I graduate and I will take the most rigorous and science related schedule that I am able to next year, for now I know I will be taking AP Physics, AP Calc AB, AP English Lit, and AP US Gov.

Any advice and comments would be really appreciated, thank you guys!! I am open to any suggestions.

P.S. I know that Mudd only offers a general engineering degree but I am ok with that. I am really in love with the school and the core curriculum and everything it has to offer.
