It's from McGraw Hill.

The Jacobson family,
A
well Known for
B
its political involvement in the local government,
C
has had a member ran for office in each of
D
the last ten elections.
E
No error.

The answer key contradicts itself.... The answer key was "D" But I just don't understand why..? Souldn't the answer be "C"?? (due to the irregular verb tense "ran" ??)

lol this book is so confusing it doesn't give good explanation nor the correct answer!!!

I'm pretty sure it's C. I would think it should be "has had a member run"... But then again, I'm no writing expert.

uhh, its obviously C. Is this the blue book or some princeton review crap? If its PR, then it is probably just a mistake because those people are idiots.

There is nothing wrong with D.

C sounds like something a 1st grader would write.

its definitely c. sometimes these books have errors, i wouldn't worry about it.

na forget that crap....on the practice tests, I miss an avg of about 2 in the blue book on writing, and I am damn sure that it's C. The hell is wrong with the last ten years? trust me, mistake in the book

I'd choose C, too. I actually find this sentence too wordy.

My rewrite: The Jacobson family, known for local political involvement, has had a member run for office in all of the last ten elections.

I thought it was:

The Jacobson family, known for local political involvement, has had a member running for office in all of the last ten elections.

No, it's has had a member run. ^
