Another grade point scale question

Somehow I didn't really catch this until this grading period (DD just finished her junior year), but not only does her school only count an A as 94% and above (and then on down from there), but only an A+ is a 4.0, an A counts as a 3.7, and so on. My younger DD who goes to another high school - our standard local high school (not claiming to be college prep) got 2 A+ and 4 "only" As, but her GPA is still 4.0.

Is the "college prep" grading scale common?

I'm not sure how common it is, but it's the same way at all of our high schools. Personally, I hate it :(

I don't think its common. we have A+ is 4.3, A is 4.0, A- is 3.7, etc.

We have A=4. -1 per grade down, +.5 for honors, +1 for ap, f=0, +/- is irellavent

^same at my school

then where you from? i'm from atl, ga [walton]

acworth ga( north cobb)

Well I sure hope there's a way she can highlight this grading scale on her college apps, since a GPA from her school can be quite a bit different other schools. I wish her school wouldn't do it this way.

I think colleges recalculate GPA using their own method so that it's fair. Not sure though...
