Another *Is this Schedule too tough?* :O

I'm planning on Math 53 (Hutchings), Chem 1A (Stacy), E10 (Johnson), German R5a (??), and E7 (Horowitz) this semester. How's this schedule for a bioengineer?

If the above courseload is too heavy, I was considering swapping E7 with an R&C "B" requirement course, but it seems like most of the "B" courses are only available in the Spring. Are there any easy "R&C B" or "AC" requirement fulfilling courses that might be recommended to a freshman?

Thanks in advance!

that sounds pretty tough...I'm taking almost the same:

Math 53
Chem 1A
E10
(with E92 and E98)

I'll be taking E7, Math 54, and Physics 7A in the spring. I can't speak from experience, but I think 4 technical courses plus German might be a little too much...

chem 4a
chemc96
math 1a
anthro 2ac
german r5a
me?

drop anthro n german lolol that sched will be hard enuf add a seminar or somethin to get up to full units

nah keep German, it's really easy. I recommend Banwell or Dewey for an easy, yet interesting R&C class. Banwell has 89% A's and she's really nice... bakes brownies, shares stories about her life, has no midterm, final exam, or final paper. Dewey has 93% A's... I've never taken her class but I hear the one about dragons is amazing.

Sign up for German asap it's one of the most popular r&c courses.

this may be a stupid question but the german class is not in german is it...?

Are the other German teachers still easy? I still don't know who I have for the class.

^^ German R&C classes are taught in english... German refers to the theme. Other themes are like asian american studies, african american studies, and scandinavian

^ As a whole the German dept is easy relative to English or Rhetoric. Teachers within the department have some variation, but in general, most students in German get B's or higher.

The professor is TBA (staff). not sure who it is yet.
anthro w/ lightfoot. hard?

I suggest dropping German R5A BECAUSE I'M FIRST ON THE WAITLIST!@

It looks like you guys are both freshman. I wouldn't recommend five simultaneous classes no matter their individual difficulty. You end up slacking on at least one (usually the one with the weakest professor), and there is always too much busy work. I took four upper-div technicals and one history course in Fall 07 and it was probably my least rewarding semester here. You NEED to balance classes with outside activities and research/volunteer work if you want to have a complete college education; you DON'T want to end up as one of those bottom feeders who never learned to do anything other than take tests and complete class assignments. You won't be happy or well-trained that way.

Anyways, the amount of work and pace of classes is different in college, so you shouldn't be viewing your schedules as if they were five high school courses. I can't personally think of any justifications for entering freshman to take five courses besides a compelling need to graduate early. You guys should view socialization, networking, and attending activities as mandatory assignments too. You may not remember much from your classes years after graduation, but you will sure as hell benefit from social experiences and personal growth.

if you don't mind having no life, or getting a 3.0 your first semester, your schedule looks fine.

Speaking of German r5a, does anyone know who will teach the MWF 8-9a class? It still says "The Staff"! I want to know! haha

^ dunno im waiting for that answer too. i guess we're in the same class lol.

Thanks TropicalTriceps, that makes me feel a lot better about my current 13-unit fall courseload (I'm an incoming freshman). I figure I'll have a busy enough semester anyways, without overloading myself with huge amounts of classwork.

tneiba and 888888888,

The Instructors have been updated for German R5A :)

Yup. Just found out. Thanks :D
