another "please help me find a good college" thread :))))

While not urban/suburban, for English majors I can not recommend Susquehanna University enough. Beautiful campus and engaging faculty with merit for someone in your stats range. I have known many students who have graduated and are living full lives. They loved their time there. My DD has friends there now who are loving it and thriving. For humanities students it is a great choice. I would Never recommend Bucknell over Susquehanna for English. There is really no comparison. I have written before but it is a hidden LAC gem. It is close to Harrisburg and has its own little shopping/restaurant/entertainment strip nearby.

I want to caution the folks who are lumping Lafayette, Lehigh, and Bucknell together in Greek life. My daughter is at Lafayette. She joined a sorority sophomore year and is living in the house this year. She goes out once a week, whether that is to a party or a restaurant for a friend’s bday. She is in the library every other night until after midnight. Her social group is in the library too. I know this bc she calls me when walking back to her house every night. Her wants and needs sound very similar to OP’s. Just because a college has a certain percentage of Greeks doesn’t mean that same percent is partying regularly.

OP, I strongly recommend New College of Florida. It is one of the “Colleges that Change Lives”. It is a public school with a $15k scholarship for out of state students. It is also an honors college. I think your stats would qualify you to get in.
