Another Question about FAFSA and IRS Retrieval Tool

My son owed taxes but paid through turbo tax service. I still have been unable to link his taxes to FAFSA. Everyone else in family who did not owe including myself have been able to link. We all used Turbo tax and filed same day. Any one else have similar experience?

Prouduscdad- I have had the same experience. I e-filed my taxes on 2/1 and paid my taxes on 2/5. I am still unable to use the IRS data retrieval tool. My mom, who e-filed 2/1 and received a refund, has been able to use the data retrieval tool.

TY nice to know I am not alone. IRS got their money. 3/4.

Well I corrected my FAFSA. I will pay my taxes Wednesday or Thursday (waiting for a check to come in). I am not going to sweat it. I figure that it is only going to be an issue if I am selected for verification. If so, the university interested in me will ask me, and I will tell them I’m still waiting! In other words, I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it…

I e-filed on 2/1 but scheduled payment for 2/16. The money came out of my account 2/19 and I used the IRS data retrieval tool on 3/4 (maybe could have done earlier - I think I checked last Friday 3/1 and it wasn’t available).

Got my final 1099 for IDOC and will send that paperwork in today – I think I am finally done! Whew!

Well, Murphy’s law… I am accepted at SDSU and they tell me “The Department of Education requires verification” of my FAFSA. I sent my check to the IRS today. I imagine it will be a good month before I can use the verification tool. I don’t even want to go to SDSU, I want to go to UCSD, and I won’t hear if I’m accepted there for at least a week, maybe a month. I assume UCSD will be required to verify me as well? Because it’s coming from the Dept of Education, not the school?

Thanks for the IRS retrieval tool info - worked like a charm and so much easier than testing FAFSA every day. Was able to use the tool today so I think I am done!

I have Foreign Taxes and hence can’t use DRT…I have filed my taxes electronically during first week of March…I am trying to order transcript for 2012 via Online/Automated line but it says not available…Is it because - it has not been processed yet? I dont owe anything…When do you think it will be available? My problem is compunded because I live overseas and need to send the transcript to college before 15-April

Any one in similar situation…Suggestions would be appreciated since I am running out of time…I am anyways planning to send a copy of my tax via mail to the College authorities but tehy will eventually expect copy from IRS

We have had schools tell us they won’t even release estimated financial aid without the drt info. What is the point of estimating the fasfa if colleges aren’t going to accept it.
