Another quick question: Computers

I'll be majoring in engineering and business. I'm looking to buy a new computer (laptop) in a few months, before I head off to Michigan.

Since I'll be in engineering, I've been reading everywhere that PCs are the way to go (specifically Thinkpads) since there are sometimes compatibility issues on Macs. Is this true and does this happen often? Also, does the compatibility issue cause that much of a problem?

My Vista experience so far on my current HP hasn't been fantastic and though nothing terrible has happened, I'm still happier with the Macs I used at school.

I'm thinking that I won't be using non-mac-compatible programs very often so it won't really matter. Am I wrong?

Thanks a lot.

P.S. Luckily, price doesn't matter. Parents said that I should get a good product that will last me all four years in college.

I suggest you contact the school of engineering, since they may have a recommended configuration.

Also, nearly every university in the country has a program for buying computers and software at a discount, (typically Dell and Apple). Before buying anything, check out Michigan’s program.

Go Blue!
