As I was sitting outside a Starbucks thinking about just how Math and Physics is entangled together, I saw this "The Way I See It" thing on the cup of the Cappuccino. It was pretty exciting cause I never expected to see the word "science" on a coffee cup. It's the 119th quote,it said:" As you sip your coffee, think about all the science behind it: in agriculture, processing, roasting, extraction. Then think of all the science around you: in your cell phone, your computer, even your food. Shouldn't everyone be educated to understand the science that permeates their lives? THEN I see, "--Dr.David Baltimore President, California Institute of Technology, and Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine. (I know, he is not the President now...)

I am stunned, but it's just that, just the way all Caltechers think, the way they look at science, that makes me wanna join them. Just hope the admission would go through next year.

HOPE YOU WOULD LIKE IT, AND LETS ALWAYS REMEMBER BALTIMORE.

Baltimore is still president until September, best of luck with admissions!

And after that, he is just a lowly Caltech professor and Nobel laureate :)

"lowly Caltech professor... "

Wow, didn't expect this kind of response from Ben, is that why you have a new President now?

post #3 was slightly sarcastic... you said "remember Baltimore!" and i meant to say: look, he's not exactly dead, he's still going to have one of the highest posts in the academic world after he retires from the presidency.

so "lowly" meant the opposite of the dictionary definition.

sarcasm really doesn't transmit online, i gather.

"sarcasm really doesn't transmit online, i gather."

I don't know... #3 sure did seem sarcastic to me, but I must say that by the time I finished reading it, the position of Caltech Professor just didn't sound like so much... so in some sense I guess sarcasm can work online but may have some decidedly undesirable psychological side-effects.

I guess that some people have yet to connect the image of a smiley with a feeling of sarcasm gushing through their minds?

I see that you left out a smiley, Moose.
