New Caltech President Announced Today

... at a campus ceremony at 11:00am pacific time. I will keep you all updated. Caltech has conducted probably the most secretive presidential search in history by a top university, so there have been no leaks whatsoever. Even the trustees of the university who weren't on the small search committee are finding right about now.

It will be interesting to see whom we will have. It will be hard to top Baltimore...

Baltimore is on a starbucks cup!! ..like one of those "The Way I See It"s. My parents told me im not supposed to like him though! haha

I wonder who it'll be. What's the salary of a CalTech pres?

A little more than half a million a year.

Tom Mannion for president!

Yes. A Frenchie.

I was hoping for someone more scientifically distinguished, but these things swing back and forth. Baltimore is a truly great scientist but could be cold and was perceived (I think incorrectly) as inattentive to the students. This guy really is quite charming and a good fund raiser. But no Nobel.

I'm a bit nervous about this...

If any of you have commentary on this, feel free to email tech@caltech.edu
