Thanks in advance!!!

don't worry about the sat IIs. they're only for placement.
weighted gpa is a little low though.
everything else looks pretty good

It's hard to say with that though, because different schools weight GPA's completely differently.

However, UNC has said that they really don't look at GPA for that reason. They'll look at the actual grades you got, but not gpa much

wow, it honestly amazes me that they put so much weight on in/out of state applicants. i mean i understand why, but I would expect that they would prefer more out of state kids than they already do. Just because some of the applicants are the same who get into colleges like duke.

in regards to my chances, yeah, my weighted gpa is low. I feel that my uw and w gpa are pretty consistent though...so not too much grade inflation, which is good right? Thanks for the chances so far, anyone else?

SpaceJam

OOS enrollment is capped at 18 percent by state law. The administration has wanted to get that number increased for years and have been continually shot down by the state legislature.

To be fair, a very disproportionate amount of the state income tax that North Carolinians pay goes toward education and UNC-CH is the flagship school so it is hard to argue with the legislature on that basis. Lack of geographic diversity is one reason that many top in state students cite for not matriculating at UNC which is one of the main reasons the administration has sought to get the percentage increased.

The administration did however find a loophole several years ago that allows all OOS students on full scholarships to count as in state students both in enrollment data and in tuition costs. With Moreheads, Robertsons and other merit winners plus recruited athletes the actual percentage of OOS students admitted is now between 19 and 20 percent on average. They are baby steps for now, but they are doing all they can to get the percentage increased to a level nearer to that of UVA which is at about 33% OOS. I don't think they will ever be able to get to 33% but even 25% would be a nice mix.

wow thats really interesting. thanks for the info eadad. hopefully that little % increase and the loopholes are enough to spill me over into acceptances. I guess theres not much i can do now except pray lol

Wow, I knew that it only cost the school in-state tuition for Robertson and Moreheads, but I didn't know that it worked with enrollment counts as well. That is helpful.
