For those of you applying to Duke, I have no doubt that you will find this information useful, albeit disheartening. Just remember to prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. That alone will take you far in life.

Anyway, does anyone care to speculate as to the regular decision acceptance rate? Naturally, the rise in applicants, along with the massive rise in early applicants (and with, indeed, more ED applicants accepted), will impact admissions tremendously.

Duke is gaining more national recognition each year. I don’t think its a school for HYP rejects anymore. I project the RD acceptance rate being close to 10%.

I think Duke will have an overall acceptance rate of 12-15% this year. The increase in apps will be a good boost for Duke, not just in rankings, but in the higher quality of the admitted students.

On a side note, the number of places that people apply continues to rise. So even though the acceptance rate may go down, maybe the rate of accepted students that attend will go down. Could be good for those that get wait listed?

i was deferred, and they tell us in the letters that its a 10% acceptance rate for those deferred ED, so potentially deferrals could have similar shots as RD applicants. good news for me. haha.

Soooooooo glad I applied ED. Good luck everybody. Enjoy the anxiety of waiting for your decision to come out, the month and a half it took for ED to come out was hell… I can only imagine how bad waiting for RD is.

But seriously, I guarantee everyone feels exactly like you people who feel like you wasted $75 applying. Relaaxxxxxx

Well, apps are in. There’s nothing we can do at this point except wait and hope. I mean, there’s always a chance of pleasant surprises at the end of March (after all, the acceptance rate isn’t 0%; there’s no need to be dreadfully pessimistic =P)
