another transfer thread

Hello all, get ready to gasp at why someone like myself would even bother posting.

During high school I really just screwed around and ended up with a 3.27 GPA and a 1320 SAT1 score. I didn't even bother to finish my senior year and got my HS proficiency. I decided that the whole "system" wasn't right for me and moved into a monastery where I really learned how to study and grew to love the sciences and math. After I realized the organized Buddhist machine was as tired as the Christian one, I left.

Enough with the life story though. I've decided to study physics and with my somewhat colorful background, I am obviously at a community college. I could be perfectly content getting a 3.0 and going to UCSD to get my bachelors but I am not. I desperately want my doctor and to learn at the height of what physics can offer.

I don't plan on getting any B's and I am getting really excited about working hard enough to get into Caltech but...after reading these threads it seems like maybe I should just try to graduate from UCSD and then try to get into a good graduate school. Can any of you give any advice about my situation? ANything would be appreciated. Sorry about the long post.

Just yesterday I was talking to someone here who transferred in from community college (Pasadena Community College, a couple blocks away). I don't know much about him, but the fact that he's here shows that transferring in from a CC is possible. Good luck with whatever you end up doing!

You could always graduate from UCSD and then apply to Tech as a frosh.

Do you mean apply to the graduate program or to do undergrad again? Because if you mean undergrad, I actually wouldn't have a problem with that but my parents might not like the idea of spending 100k on my bachelor's degree. I know the chances are pretty much nonexistant but if you guys have any advice for pursuing research oppurtunities or if you know of exams or anything to make an application look good, I would really appreciate it.

I've pretty much been spending about 9 hours a day on school and I really don't need to spend that much time on this material so, if there is anything else I can possibly do, I will do it. It doesn't matter how difficult or how much effort.

I really appreciate any advice
