<p>I've been studying art all my life. but i was always interested in archaeology mythology etc but I never went out of my way to learn anything about it. so I'm new to this and I don't know where to start. I'm wondering what would be the best college selections or if anyone knows of a simple course I can take so I can figure out if I really want to do this. </p>

<p>If you still aren't sure you want to go into anthropology, then I'd advise not to make your decision based solely on that. The vast majority of colleges have anthropology courses, so no matter where you go, you'll be able to explore this. If you're interested in art, archaeology, and mythology, you might also want to look at the classics. There are plenty of options out there, so I'd advise that you find a college based on more overall qualities (size, location, strength of academics everywhere, maybe study abroad, etc.).</p>
<p>If you still want to take a class in anthro before college, check out your local community college.</p>
<p>Arizona has a top rated program. So does UChicago. </p>
<p>But I agree with the previous poster - most colleges will offer good anthropology courses. You can get a taste of the subject just about anywhere. Don't chase after the best anthropology schools just on some whim. Go to a school that fits your other needs (such as having a good art program).</p>
<p>In addition to alethiometer's suggestion about your local CC, another place to explore anthro is a local history museum. Many museums are willing to take on high school students as interns over the summer, although not all will pay them. Experience will tell you that there's a lot of difference between admiring assembled pottery and scrubbing dirty potsherds. :rolleyes:</p>
