I am looking for a college that I can major in social/cultural anthropology and study archaeology too. I am also interested in art. One last thing- I need a college that has a really good study abroad program that is supported by teachers in the feilds that I am looking to study in. Is there a college college that has all of these things? It can be anywhere in the world.

Take a look at Rhodes and Centre. I’m not as familiar with Centre, but they’re worth investigating.

Rhodes has good art (studio and history), anthro, and study abroad. There is an archaeology minor with a field school at an old planation just one county over. There are a ton of study abroad opportunities, some of which are led by our professors. My favorite anthropologist here is a Madagasgar expert and is going over there all the time.

Hi, have you considered doing your degree in New Zealand?

Here at the University of Waikato we are particularly concerned with sociocultural anthropology - that is, the comparative study of the whole range of contemporary human societies and cultures, from tribal and peasant through to industrial and global. The Pacific region, with its diverse peoples and lifeways, both indigenous and settler, is the main focus of our teaching and research.

Waikato University is also accredited for US financial Aid which means you could get a US loan and do your degree in New Zealand.

Penn if you are a top student
Goucher if you are a good student

Look into Beloit. Absolutely great in anthro, and sends a lot of students abroad.

^ Colorado College if you are somewhere in between.

Nice social/cultural anthropology (and archaeology) department. Innovative new fine arts center (“Cornerstone” building). Unique one-course-at-a-time “block plan” that gives you lots of flexibility for field work and independent (or small team) projects, including study abroad for a semester or less than a semester. Gorgeous Rocky Mountain location. An unusual, intense place good for students with a sense of adventure who can take charge of their own learning.

Who the hell would want to live in hamilton…

SUNY New Paltz has a great anthropology dept. is well known for the art dept. and has awesome study abroad opportunities. You can utilitize the entire SUNY system for study abroad. Check it all out:

I’m surprised people are making suggestions. There are dozens of suggestions I could make – Michigan, Chicago, Cornell, Duke, Brown, Dickinson, Oberlin, and more – but the original post is far too vague to be able to make useful suggestions.
