<p>Could you give an example? People love talking about themselves...</p>

<p>i almost have a script in my head when i first meet people. of course it depends on the setting. there's always something to talk about !!!</p>

<p>IDK... if it's awkward just say "hey it was nice meeting you, see you around, g2g now to class" or w/e. mostly, u just find common ground like "ohh youre from san fran too? which hs did u go to?" if it's weird, just split.</p>

<p>Opinions. Share opinions on something you've already covered, class, Dorrell, a certain professor, how stinky dorm halls are, etc.</p>

<p>Ask questions, ask them to elaborate on something you've already covered.</p>

<p>Ask to do such-and-such sometime, "You wanna have dinner sometime? Let's trade numbers." "You wanna go to the pier? Me too! Let's arrange a trip." "Let's get together to study such-and-such class." "Let's play pool, ping-pong, cards," whatever. </p>

<p>If everything turns out to be awkward and forced, you're probably my socially-awkward roommate. But there's bound to be some people you meld with.</p>
