I'm one of those people who were waitlisted and need advice. I would immediately accept Columbia if they got me off the waitlist but until the waitlist decisions come out, (Correct me if I'm wrong please) I have to put a deposit enrollment fee at another school. I have done that at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and I was wondering if I have to fill out the housing arrangements, make an ID, etc. What if, by miraculous chance, I am off the waitlist and accepted? Can I still withdraw and enroll at Columbia University even though I've done all those things?

Yes, you should proceed with everything that you need to do for the University of Michigan. If you get off of Columbia’s wait list you will just contact Michigan immediately. You do not want to delay in making arrangements with Michigan in case your acceptance to Columbia doesn’t happen. Schools have experience with someone accepting a place off of the waitlist from another institution. Good luck with everything!

miky: what you described is exactly how things are supposed to happen. UoM knows this, Columbia knows this. Regardless of what Columbia decides, congrats on being a Wolverine!

Thanks for confirming CarpeDiemAlways! :D

And thanks for the congrats T26E4! :D

I appreciate your answers very much! :D

Does anyone know how housing works for people who get accepted off the waitlist? I don’t really know anything about housing. Do we get put into places people didn’t want?
