@steveo4ever only 53%? Wow. That’s pretty impressive! Can’t wait to attend!

Any of you guys waitlisted receive financial aid?

@xcyl40

I Did.

@Lakersince95

Why is a 53% admittance rate impressive? That means that basically almost everyone that applies gets in.

@Gunner4Life
I’m wondering, does everyone on the waitlist get financial aid? On ms. sun’s blog, it said all other UC campuses like UCR, UCD, and UCI give out financial aid when we are notified of our waitlist decisions. Do you think this is an indicator of if we’re off of the waitlist? I mean, I got a big amount of financial aid and I don’t see why UCR would give me such a huge amount if I’m waitlisted.

I received financial aid. =o

And dang, it’s a shame SAT is most important. That’s my weak point. >_<

I think 53% is impressive because in recent years the rate has been pretty bad. I spoke to one of the staff members in person and she told me this year’s waitlist has a good chance. =3

@xcyl40

I’ve been told financial aid offices and admission offices work separately. So, even though we got our financial aid packages… it doesn’t have anything to do with admissions. They have to do it to keep track/updated, especially in case we’re accepted.

^^^ However!! I don’t know if this is true for all UCs or for any at all.

Let’s hope it’s a good sign.

@Gunner4life I think it’s fairly impressive because of the fact that UCR’s acceptance rate was in the 70-80% range just a couple years ago. Yeah, 53% means that a little more than half the people that apply get accepted, and other UCs are way more selective, definitely, but that’s above and beyond better for a school that used to let pretty much everyone in.

@Lakersince95

That is very true, but a 50% rate still means that school is still less desired than other schools.

Well, only 9 days left before May…
Let’s hope all of us waitlist get in…

Someone is BUTTHURT

^ your mother! … is nice

@Gunner4Life

Yeah they look for more than just GPAs and SAT scores i have a 27 on my ACT I have multiple work experiance and about 900 hours of community service. I know 4 languages. Surprise I didnt get accepted I have a pretty impressive essay!
I am currently president of multiple clubs in my school. I get very active with the community! Im also in many productions! And Have played small roles in movies! >.< Working to get famous haha

@Rocker1452

The people at UCR looked at your app and said, “Wow, this applicant is too over-qualified for our school!”.

Being on the waitlist sucks especially if you know you’re a qualified student, but whatever, I like SDSU more than UCR.

Don’t give up hope guys! Being waitlisted doesn’t mean you’re rejected. We still have a chance. And I’m sure UCR will accept people from the waitlist this year. They can’t possibly have two years in a row of not accepting a single person from the waitlist, otherwise UCR’s reputation for waitlisted students next year would be bad.

@Gunner4Life:
That’s cool. you enjoy SDSU. You do need to also think about the field you’re going into as being a factor to getting acceptance. And honestly, maybe they didn’t like your application essay or something. There are many different reason you would have gotten wait listed.
And whatever you tend to pursue, best of luck.
