Any advice for first visit?

Daughter happily accepted and planning first campus visit in a few weeks. Do you have advice about key issues, questions & topics to discuss with instructors, administrators, students? Hoping to gain a better sense of real deal inside dynamic.

There are lots of tours available. Make sure you sign up for the tour in her college. It was better (for us) than the general school tour.

Try to go when they have their open house. My daughter did not consider the school very seriously, but we visited at open house and she was offered the opportunity to shadow a student for a full day and did a more in-depth visit that way. I distinctly remember when she made up her mind while visiting the Cero Vista freshman accommodation following that day she spent with the student.

We just visited last weekend. We barely planned and just grabbed a campus map after talking to one of the students at a help desk. It was still a great trip. The campus sells itself. If you have time to set up any of the things mentioned above, it will be just that much more enjoyable.

Make sure to leave time to hang out in town and/or take a drive to the beach. The surrounding area is beautiful.

As a side note, we visited at least 15 colleges as a family to give my son (and younger daughter) a perspective on the available varieties of campus life. We, mostly my son and me, have done countless hours of research and reading about a wide range of colleges. Cal Poly stands out for a lot of reasons.
