Any advice for incoming freshmen?

Hmm any suggestions on how to balance classes? I’m worried about taking too easy/too hard of a course schedule the first semester

Do most people take 4 or 5? What do you recommend?

I would personally begin with 4 – you don’t want to be overloaded in the beginning. Then again, you can always drop a class if you need to. I guess it depends on credits…tho im not sure how they work either.

I’ll also probably go with 4 for the first semester… Even though initially I thought of 5 since there are just too many interesting courses. From what I understand, the requriments/credits shouldn’t worry us too much, they have to be fulfilled by the end of the fourth semester.

Oh, by the way I too want to take the Intro to Brain and Behavior. And I’m also up for a new language - probably Italian - organic chem, and a literature class.

I’m only taking 4 this semester. Not going to kill myself right off the bat. If I can handle 4 then I’ll probably move up to 5 for 2nd semester or 1st semester of sophomore year.

Awesome, I guess I will see you in Brain&Behavior – and maybe orgo too, although there are a few different class times. I’m wondering if adding an intro bio class would be too much.

That’s just what I was wondering too, but decided against it ultimately. I guess I can always take it the second semester. I was kind of surprised to see the Lab sections are almost four hours. Am I the only one who finds that too long? Maybe it’s because I’m not used to this system, but still.

I should really be relaxing now instead of worrying about such things I guess.

I noticed the labs too. But I guess that’s why they’re just once a week. They do seem to take up a lot of time, though.

Once we’re there (which is soon, 42 days until take-off for me  ), I’m sure we’ll learn how to choose/manage classes.

By the way, has anyone gotten their july mailing? I can’t wait to find out about my roomie and pre-o trips, but I guess I’ll just have to repeat “patience is a virtue” while waylaying the postman.

As a rising senior I would say definetly take 4 classes. Almost nobody takes 5 unless they have to. You will have plenty to keep you busy with 4 and you want to save some time to be a college kid and have some fun!
