Incoming students' classes

My mom said she saw class description books at the open house yesterday, but she didn’t grab one thinking that I’d get one. Well, I didn’t lol. I see it’s available online, but it’s over 200 pages!! Will we get books of the classes? I also noticed that for the schedule, some classes were full/closed already…how does that work for incoming freshmen if the upperclassmen pick the classes first???

Yeah, you basically get a little screwed in that process. But it’s only one semester, and you only get to choose three classes. Some of the more popular classes have a section reserved for freshman, though. Trying to get into some of the anthropology classes might be more difficult because those fill up quickly. Choose from the classes that are available, and you’ll get to pick at the same time as everyone else next semester.

Ok, I’ll plan accordingly. Thanks!!

I see that there is a beginning Arabic course on the schedule…BUT IT’S CLOSED!!! :(

First post! I’m so excited to see so much discussion about Beloit!

Don’t worry about what you’re seeing in terms of course enrollment. Just because a class is listed as being full, doesn’t actually mean that there is not room for new students and in some cases it might be a class only for first-year students. There may even be more courses added over the summer. You won’t know for sure until you get to campus and are given the list of available courses and there will be lots of options!

Some classes may open up on add/drop day, so there’s still a chance that you might be able to get into it. Also, if you try contacting the professor, they may let you in regardless of whether it is technically full. Of course, they also might not, but it could still be worth a shot.
