Any advice on being more motivated?

I am extremely bright and can do any academic work when I put the time in but I have a hard time becoming motivated and staying motivated. So what are you tricks for studying and doing homework? I can just never get in to the groove (If you know what I mean).
So what do you do?

If you have a mac, download self-control. It saves you. I promise.
Find something you really love doing. I love writing and reading, so I do a bit of one or the other every single day, like a reward. I know most people watch a series or something when they’ve finished their work as a congratulations. That works really well short-term. Long term, do you know what you want to do with your life? Do you know where you want to be in five, ten, twenty years? Look at the bigger picture.
Personally, I fell in love with an author, and my whole life is (short-term) directed toward meeting her and taking classes from her. Long-term, I want to write and read and that’s it. So I’m slugging through the math, because I’ve got my eye on the target.

So my advice is find yourself a passion. Basically. Good luck!

Do what you love to do (nuff said)

You lost me at…

I don’t like conceit.

No offense to the above poster, but if you don’t like conceit this may not be the right site for you. Of course I’m not a proponent either, but you’re going to have to bear it if you’re on CC :/

That’s very cynical, retrohippo. There’s a sharp distinction between confidence, and conceit.

Wander over to the Chance Me threads and you might share my POV… it’s conceit masquerading as self-denigration.

Except, of course, if the question is genuine <3

It wasn’t ment to sound like conceit. I was just trying to say that I am capable of doing a lot of hard work. I am really not like that. Sorry.

catchy2, conceit is not the impression that I got from this post. At least, no more here than that which usually animates CC…

I like my conceits.
