Taking challenging classes takes commitment, right? Well… I don’t really have any motivstion to keep up the grades this semester… And yes, college is my goal, don’t say that should be my motivation haha. What are some things you guy use(d) to motivate yourselvses? I’m only a freshman… Got a long time left in high school.
In all honesty you are going to have to be your own motivation. Everything starts with self. However, for me, it tool a long time to value an education. I had a really good job after high school, and did not see the need for school. Until I found myself unemployed and saw numerous jobs that I professionally and skillfully qualified for. I was however, lacking in the academically qualified department. Try making it in this world without an education and you are screwed. Not to mention an education is something nobody can ever take from you. Best wishes.
I use CC, really, and look at all the amazing people who were rejected from my dream schools. And then I think that to even have a chance, I need to make sure I’m in the top 10% (ish? they don’t rank at my school, and tell you if you’re in the top 15%, but nothing higher) of the class, which means getting no more B’s.
Works like a charm.
I just want to be DONE with high school, have fun this summer, than go off to college like any other senior.
Well on a short term basis I go to a study place then I feel pressured into doing school work instead of goofing off.
On a long term basis, I like doing things with my friends and I feel like there’s a light at the end of tunnel. I can have my own freedom soon if I keep up my work.
I like doing school work with my friends and complain about school/life haha
In all honesty, there aren’t very many students who try to get a 4.0 for reasons besides college. Push through it day by day. Try to find some fun it as you push along. It’s not about the end goal but the journey right? Laughing with your friends will help lighten that dark tunnel and make some memories to smile back on
Make a “study/motivation” wall! Get colored sticky notes and write goals on them. For example, get a 36 on my ACT! Get a 95 in AP Government! Type a plan for yourself to glance at every day, high school leads to college, that leads to a job and money, which will help you live and survive. Mind sound weird but for example, lets say you want a jeep. You have to graduate H.S. College, etc. to get money for one. Goals = success. Self-motivation is hard, but worth it. Prove people wrong! That was always my #1 motivator. Also search the forums on here, people get rejected from schools with perfect SAT’s and 4.5 weighted GPAs. It is a competitive world out there. Use that as motivation as well. Best of luck to you! You can do it!
So I’m a senior and it’s incredibly difficult, haha! Something I try to do in order to stay motivated in the long run is to make friends with amazing people. I suggest that no matter what your situation, you should try to meet new people and understand their stories and what drives them. Oftentimes, you’ll feel this sense of wonder and inspiration that helps you see the world and your goals differently (honestly, for me it was an intensive summer program that changed my life). Another source of motivation is simply believing in yourself - that you’re destined to do something great in your life, but you need to work hard to reach that point. A bit too much, I admit, but it worked for me.
In the worst case, I told myself that my favorite celebrity would be proud that his fans are motivated! Perhaps that was helpful as well :">
I’m a senior, and a lot of people I know are getting serious cases of senioritis.
As for me, I’ve been too busy working to get it
At least we have snow days…
I generally use my dreams as motivation. It’s alright to dream big, and honestly, saying, “I want to go to Harvard, or Yale, or Stanford, or MIT,” that might be able to push you and try towards that goal. And while you might not get there, you’ll definitely be better off having put through the effort. I say that, but I’m a big slacker. I generally just pull through with good grades.
