I'm getting ready to sign up for the Housing Contract and the Meal Plan. Does anyone have any advice to give especially on the Meal Plan options?

Thanks.

From my son’s point of view, he chose the 225 plan and loved it. His girlfriend had the weekly plan - and did not like it, she said that if you don’t use all the meals each week, you lose them, while the 225 just rolls to the end of the term. He normally has 4 or 5 meals left at end of term and buys cases of gatorade, snacks or water with them to use them up.

I am interested to see what the Lehigh students on the board have to say!

as per the financial aid provision, I’m bound to use the 19 meals per week meal plan.

For meals, are they only the unlimited eating in the cafeterias or are there takeout options that meals can be used for? And each week could water and snacks be bought with meals?

This link may help with your decision. Yes, most of the options do have a cash equivalency program at places like the Food Court and Pandinis on campus. You can use your meal card - but typically when my son would go to Pandinis, he had to swipe twice to get what he wanted.

Not sure if all these places take meal plan cards, but I know they take dining dollars and Gold Plus as my son has spent a fortune at Hawk’s Nest. This list gives you an idea of all the options out there:

My son originally signed up for the unlimited plan. During OAP, he was convinced by upper classmen that the 225 plan was the most versatile, and cheaper. Meal swipes at UC are worth $4.35 per swipe, so as mumof2boyz said, most meals are at least 2 swipes.
