Other schools I'll be applying to are:
Princeton
UPenn (Wharton)
Cornell
NYU Stern
Wellesley
MIT
Oxford
Cambridge
McGill
University of Western Ontario

I'm really torn about whether or not to do EA to Yale or Stanford, or ED to Columbia. I think my chances at Columbia would probably be slightly higher, and I think it's a fantastic school. I think I like Yale a bit better, but since Harvard and Princeton did away with ED I'm sure a lot of truly qualified students will be applying to Yale EA, which may decrease my chances. Any advice would be great, and if you need more info please leave a post!

do yale =)
its a good fit for u

Your record is good but not great or unusual. You would be very lucky to get into any one of these schools. Consider which one you may have the most to offer. Does one of your interests matter more to one?

Only idiots will flock to Yale next year because H and P
don't have an early option. The fact is 90% plus of applicants will not get in. Early or otherwise. Most as as qualified as you.

Apply to all the schools RD. Schools are trying to stop the nonsense that this is--kids applying what they believe is strategically. The fact is if you're unhooked, and studying in France is not a hook, you now need to have something they really want.

Thanks for your opinions. Do you have any suggestion on what I could do maybe this summer to make my stats stand out or become more well rounded?

I wanted to apply early because I feel like I'd be extremely fortunate to get into one of these top schools, and at the same time be finished with the whole application process. Because our school is Canadian, they don't encourage us to apply to the US and often put a cap on the number of schools we apply to, which is why I'd like to take a shot at EA/ED.

The top colleges are NOT looking for well rounded students!!! They want a well rounded student body but you'll find most everyone really excels at something--ONE thing--unless you're hooked.

Suze, do you think going to Exeter my senior year would help me in any way in terms of applying? I heard that its easier to apply even if you just attend an American school as opposed to a Canadian one...

First, let me say that I agree totally with suze's remarks in post #5.

Because of this, I'm kind of surprised that you are applying for business programs (Wharton/ Stern) since your two areas of focus seem to be languages and politics and almost all of the other colleges besides Penn and NYU that you are applying to (except Cornell and McGill) have no business programs.

I would think that applying for a degree in something like Linguistics, Political Science, or International Relations, would be more in line with your background. The only business programs that seem matches would be International Business, or Marketing (with globalization as the focus).

With that in mind, Columbia or Oxford (for a non-business program) or NYU, Georgetown or McGill (for a business program) would seem to be the best college matches.

Best of luck.

I'd like to go into business, but work in other countries later. I've thought about politics, but I don't think I'll pursue it.

Anyways, thanks for your input!

Any other suggestions? =)
