Any Advice?

I know this is the Furman forum but I wasn't getting too much feedback in the USC one (so please try to be impartial lol).

A few of my friends have gotten their acceptance letters for the USC Honors College (about a week ago; and I saw some people already got their acceptances on this forum) but I was wondering when most people get their letters since the information packets initially said Jan. 7 (getting paranoid lol).

Also, I was offered a full ride to Wofford (Charles E. Daniel Scholarship Finalist, Wofford Scholar, etc.) and was debating between whether I should go to Wofford or the USC Honors College (if I get in lol -- just being optimistic) if attending either would be more-or-less free of charge. I've visited both schools (Wofford twice) and the pros and cons of each school are pretty much equal. After finishing undergrad, I want to go to law school (going to the Duke University Law School would be an absolute dream lol).

However, I'm unsure of which school I should go to and was wondering what you guys would do in my situtation. I've already thoroughly researched each school and each has some program(s) of study I would love to pursue, including studying abroad, etc. I realize it's very difficult to compare the two (LAC vs. National University) but I'm just utterly confused as to which school would be better in terms of post-undergrad ventures such as getting into law school, considering I would perform equally at both (plus, the deadline to reply to Wofford is Jan. 15). Sorry for the long-winded post but I've been wrestling with this decision for the past couple weeks and would really appreciate any input.

Well, I will do what I can to help you here. As someone who has spent and continues to spend a lot of time looking at different universities, I have found (especially from my own experience at Furman) that a small liberal arts environment is ideal for the undergraduate experience. The type of personal connections, relationships, and holistic learning that goes on in an LAC is paramount! If you take a look at the matriculants at top graduate and prof. schools, you will find LAC grads overrepresented. This is often because such schools foster a love of academia that propels many individuals to future study. Honors colleges of public universities can offer great perks and opportunities, so I don't want you to overlook that. However, if you are looking for an overall experience that will shape your life (as cliche as that may sound), go for the LAC. You will love it.

It's an interesting choice. You can't go wrong either way. Most things I've read is that private is better than public. If you have a full ride to Wofiford, geez I'm not sure I would pass that up. I really think you should consider your own personal likes; small school, big school, big time sports vs small, big city vs little, etc. The main thing about getting into law school is your GPA and LSAT scores. Wherever you go you can practice and get a decent LSAT score. Your GPA needs to be at least 3.2-3.4 with demanding classes. Go wherever you think you can achieve these.
