Forbes Management is supposed to be pretty good. I am moving into one of their apartments in North Oakland in August. My friends and I got a nice place for a good price. Another friend who already lives in my building has told me that she had had no problems with the management.

Or buying it and getting it there in the first place. Ugh!

Ikea home delivery. Selected the stuff from the store in VA, placed the order via telephone and they guaranteed a delivery date. The stuff arrived as promised – just had to put it together :)

Should have done that for my bed, grrrr. But either way, I have to take two couches from VA up to Pitt in a few weeks, so might as well take the bed too, haha.

Best bet for getting rid of furniture is A- through word of mouth to younger students and B- Craigslist (because then the buyer has to come and take the furniture).

I am hoping that DD takes her furniture to her first after graduation apartment wherever her first JOB is. Am I too optimistic? I have been having fun shopping for furniture, but I think that I will do the IKEA thing for a couple of things. Sears will be delivering the bed.

DD really likes apartment living though she thought honors apartments were very noisy as she was on the street level.

MD Mom, you are being optimistic, but that is a better way to go through life! :)

We spent about $1,000 at Ikea Pittsburgh last year to outfit my daughter’s bedroom and pick up some kitchen items. The living room furniture came from Craigslist, and the roommate paid for that. (I am leery of using Craigslist because bedbugs are so prevalent.) Because my daughter is back home with us now, and we cannot fit one more stick of furniture in our apartment even if I use a crowbar, we ended up leaving almost all the Ikea furniture behind for the new roommate moving in. (She was happy.)

Also, graduation was May 1, but the lease ran to Aug. 15, so we had to pay rent for May, June, July, and half of August. That’s another disadvantage to living off campus. It worked out in my daughter’s case, though, because she stayed there after graduation to complete her job stint working in a Pitt facility.

I lived in Forbes-Craig for the past two years, 2nd floor (first year parkinglot side, second year street side). Trust me, parking lot was worse. Around 3-4am on random days of the week a VERY noisy dumpster truck came to pick up the trash and took FOREVER.

Also, I wonder if you could PM me your daughter’s name? There’s a high probability that we know each other, haha.

Anyone have any leads on a 2 or 3BR other than what’s on Craigslist?

Bluejay, did you look at the Pitt housing apartment list? It might give you a good place to start.

By the way, I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner, Walnut Capital has a bunch of apartments in Oakland/surrounding areas of various sizes/price and they’re all pretty nice! (I have friends living at a few of their locations).

Here’s the link, dunno if they have anything for THIS coming year, they tend to book fast: [Walnut Capital - Pittsburgh’s Best Properties](http://www.walnutcapital.com/)

Webster Hall is great!
