Any Buddhists in Cornell?

This is a stupid question...but does the fact that I'm a Korean Buddhist have any affect on my admission into Cornell?
Are there any Buddhist people at Cornell anyway? There's so few of us around here (NJ); I'm one of two Buddhist people in my school which contains 1200 kids...
just wondering.

안녕! Good too see another prospective Korean student. I don't know too many Buddhists on campus, so I couldn't tell you about that. I'm not too sure that religion plays a big of a factor as race or socioeconomic status might. If you want to make it a point in your essay or something, like how you overcame some kind of obstacles or prejudices because of your religion, that might help, but I don't think it will affect your admission in a positive or negative way.

There's a Buddhist temple in Ithaca, so there's bound to be some Buddhists.

It will probably help in admissions because they love diversity...as do I! I would love to talk to Buddhists!

ps. there are 20-30 Buddhist families in Ithaca. The Dalai Lama is visiting in a few months too! I'm SOOOO excited and already have tickets!!!!

The Dalai Lama is coming to Ithaca this fall.

Do you know the exact date?

October 9th, but I cant belive how expensive the tickets are! I hope we can get in without them somehow.....maybe using a back door?

haha they had a lot of cheaper tickets a while back! but you can still get them on Aug. 15, they keep some for new students!! I'm soooo incredibly psyched for this lol

It says on Cornell's common data set that an applicant's religion is not considered. I bet you could weave it into an essay, though.

Acebic, did you get any tickets? For what price?

ya I got a ticket for about $55 online, but they also had $20 tickets...those were on the bleachers tho lol

WOW! That is EXPENSIVE! Why do they need so much money - they are monks, I thought they were suppost to deny themselves the material pleasure. Maybe they are using the money to support some sort of a rebellion in Tibet against China - and thus need a lot of funds. But yeah, the price is discouraging. Anyone going to try to get in without the tickets?
