Any chance for me??? Please HELP!

Ok so I'm looking to transfer out of Georgia Tech (been there for 3 semesters) for a few reasons, mainly the reason being that I've decided that I hate engineering. The main problem is my GPA. Reading threads on this website makes me feel even worse about my GPA, but I know I'm very smart when motivated. I'm not going to give you the whole sob story about how my GPA came to be, but let's just say I have learned a lot in college not just about schoolwork but about life as well. I am ready to succeed somewhere but I need a change. My GPA is a 1.4 (I know some people out there are wondering how this is possible), but in high school I had a 3.7 GPA and a 1330/1600 SAT score. I also had a ton of college credit through Syracuse University classes at my high school, I got a 4/5 on the AP Biology exam, had over 100 hours of community services, and was a part of various clubs/sports/National Honor Society. Will any schools take me (other than community colleges) ? I had gotten into most of the schools I originally applied to, and as bad as my GPA is, I am hoping that some school out there will understand how rigorous GT's engineering program is and is willing to give me a second chance. I'm looking to switch majors but I still haven't decided to what yet. So location/what majors the school offers are not going to be a deciding factor as of now. I'm just looking for somewhere that will accept me, preferably a bigger school anywhere or a smaller school in the Northeast (either way with a decent social life). Any suggestions?

I do not know of all schools in the US, however a 1.3 GPA will be to low to transfer. Most good schools require a 3.0 minimum GPA to transfer. And a 2.0 in any individual class to transfer that class. There are some other schools that require a 2.0 GPA to transfer and a 1.0 in any individual class to transfer that class. To my knowledge however, a 1.4 is too low to transfer anywhere. My suggestion to you would be to start over a community college, since to my knowledge, you will be unable to transfer anywhere. Do some research though.

You should check out URI

@sbneedshelp

Why should OP look at URI? They require a minimum 2.5 GPA to transfer, unless I am unaware of some other policy?

Ok, so I’m considering community college as much as I would hate to go there, but would I be able to leave after one semester?

I highly doubt it. You cumulative GPA will still be considered. I would say you would need 1+ year in order to transfer out.

The admissions people tend to have a heart there.

Having a heart has nothing to do with admissions requirements.

“For admission to the University, a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required, including all post-secondary schools you have attended. However, many majors require much higher grade point averages.”

Can you provide any evidence that a sub 2.5 GPA is allowable for consideration for transfer?
