Essays are pretty good, and my recommendations should be solid also. I am in-state. I know my GPA is pretty rough, so is there any chance for getting into the Honors College, its really the only way I would consider UVM.

According to the admissions website, the typical profile of students accepted into the honors college are in the top 5-7% of their class and have SAT scores of around 2100.

I was recently invited into the honors college (GPA 4.17, SAT 2110) and also received a presidential scholarship for $8,000 per semester. I applied early action in November. UVM was a safety for me: I felt the same way you do about only going there if I got into the honors college.

I’m out of state…I’m not sure if that influenced anything or whether your being in state would have any impact on admission to the honors college.

They send out acceptance letters through April, so there are still 1-2 rounds of invitation letters to the honors college.

Taking the macro economics class from UVM should look good to admissions! However, including the fact that you snowboard every weekend is pretty insignificant unless you taught snowboarding or did ski patrol or something, and might look silly to admissions.

Hope this helps

Also, what other schools did you apply to?

@degeneres101 The snowboarding thing is kind of important in the context of my Application because my essay is about snowboarding. And I didn’t really think I had a chance to get into the Honors college, but like I said, it’s the only thing that would really make UVM attractive to me. Other schools are Clark University, Ithaca College, American University, Boston University, and George Washington University. Thanks for the response also!

I got invited to honors with a 3.5 gpa on my transcript and my sat was 1910. I think you definitely have a shot.

@dennael‌ when did you hear? I already got accepted but haven’t seen anything about the honors college :frowning:

@chubwagon I heard last night  admissions are rolling, so you have until the end of this month to hear back I think.

@dennael‌ Did they send you an email? Also, thank you for taking the time to respond!

@chubwagon no problem! Yes, they sent an email saying congratulations on your acceptance into the honors college. It also shows when I log into my UVM portal. best of luck to you.
