Any chance ND could match my scholarship?

I’m a transfer student and I had a medium sized scholarship (~14k a year) that really helped financially. I’m thinking ND’s full tuition would be nearly impossible to pay for. Additionally, my parents make too much to have college any sort of need-based financial aid, but are unable to pay for college as they have extremely high costs. Is there any chance ND could match my scholarship?

You can ask, but odds are slim. The higher ranked the school, the less likely a student will get merit aid. I hope you haven’t left yourself with no affordable options for this fall.

Make sure you run ND’s net price calculator to see what kind of need aid (if any) you would actually qualify for. And you also should feel free to talk to the FA office directly. But if you don’t get need aid, I very seriously doubt ND will do anything to match your old merit with new merit.

I tried it with my kid coming out of HS. Kid had several BIG schollies from schools ranked a little bit below ND and also one ranked a bit higher than ND. The FA and admissions offices were very open to talking and reviewing the situation, but we didn’t get one penny from the attempt.

Transfer students are not considered for merit scholarships at Notre Dame. This is in the Transfer Student FAQs. https://admissions.nd.edu/information-for/transfer-students/transfer-faq/ Note that it is pretty common for merit aid to be unavailable for transfer students.

Did you run the net price calculator and research merit aid before you applied? If ND is unaffordable you may have to decline your spot.

I believe ND has a 100% need met policy so they should give you pretty much whatever you need

@NDtransfer299 - I encourage you to call Financial Aid. They also have much higher income levels that qualify for “need”. My discussions with people in FA have been very helpful. They even revised my son’s FA up based on the meeting I had with the advisor.
