Hi everyone! I’m a newby here I’m an International student (from Italy), and I’ll apply to college this fall.
I already took two SAT subjects, math I and Latin (scored 630 and 710) + TOEFL (100 - I did pretty bad on the writing 'cause I ran out of time, so I’m taking it again in less than two weeks). I still have to take the october SAT, but I’m aiming for 2100+.
My grades are pretty high: I go to a “classical” high school, which is kinda the hardest one here where I live, and I have a GPA of 8.56 out of 10. I attended summer programs abroad every year since when I was fourteen, and the last two of them were at Yale and Brown University; I’ve been doing ballet since I was 5 (even though not at a competitive level), I swim and this year I took the lifeguard licence, I love reading and I’m a member of the jury for a pretty important Italian literary award, I write reviews for our local theatre’s website etc etc. The point it: I don’t have a job and I’ve never done voluntary work. I’ll start doing some with the red cross, but only the preparation course is gonna be 1 month long and I don’t know if I’ll be able to put it into my early application - for the job, instead, I’d love to find one but it’s not exactly easy in my country’s economic situation haha.
I have just a rough idea of where I’ll apply, aka I will probably add more universities/remove some of the ones listed here, but basically they’re Cornell, Brown, University of Pennsylvania UChigago, Boston University, American University @ Washington and Richmond. I know that some of them are more selective and some others less, but is there a chance that I’ll get into one of those Ivies?
