any chance?

I am posting this to get some feedbacks for my son. Thanks in advance.

Asian young man
College prep school (independent)
GPA: 3.99 (school exists for 26 yrs, only one kid got 4.0 so far, as told)
All classes are thought to be "honors", no AP or IB.
No rank in school, unofficially #1 in a small graduating class of 85. (school is very small, the admission rate for the school is <25%)

SATI: 2400 (first try)
SAT II: Math IIc 800 (first try), and will take: chemistry, Spanish, Chinese

Recommendations should be excellent (if nothing unusual happens)

Piano (11 years, many local/regional/state honors, citywide "Emerging Artist" featured in a special concert)
Violin (7 years, Concertmaster of school chamber orchestra)
Chamber Music Ensemble (3 years)
Band (2 years)
Will send a CD of live concert recording

Other volunteer work: migrant farm housing project; tutoring; food back; children's hospital

Scholarship to study a foreign language in another country.

Weakness: 1) not much leadership positions since he has been focusing his music for a logn time. 2) lack of working expereince.

He will apply Harvard for RD.

Sincere comments are welcome.

You have a higher chance than most. But if any school can turn away a 2400, it's the H-Bomb...

Do you have any musical awards? [ie: you don't have any visible hook in what you posted]

Yes, has won honorable mention awards in piano competitions at the state level (most competitive one for senior high school level). Is this a good hook?

Valedictorian with 2400...good chance. But his extracurriculars seem pretty run-of-the-mill. His piano accomplishments are good, but his volunteer work seems good. Does he do regular volunteer work? That would be good. Even if those were one-time opportunities, however, it will still help him. Ask him to tally up his total service hours and put that on the app.
He has an above-average chance but his extracurriculars could benefit from some more involvement.

From what I see, what you have is good. Now start worrying about your essays silly. :)
