<p>Hmmm... that other institute of technology can't just be brushed aside.</p>
<p>um sandy99, here's another reality check:</p>
<p>i know someone who got a 2350, 5s on all his ap exams, and 800s on 3 sat iis. he was also editor-in-chief of school newspaper, science bowl, and ocean science bowl captain. he got rejected to mit.</p>
<p>however, you could take comfort in the fact that he was accepted to harvard, stanford, yale, and princeton... though if mit is truly your dream school, then i'm just reminding you that it's possible to get rejected even with your amazing stats. essays and short answers really matter a lot.</p>
<p>Good point, orbis. Also, the fact that a student with X stats gets rejected does not necessarily mean that you must have X stats + something else to get in. Perhaps some of the X stats were not quite relevant in admissions.</p>
<p>Best one can do is try and apply.</p>
