applied on a whim - now I'm curious....chances?

I applied to MIT as a super super reach but now Im a little curious as to my chances. I'm an asian male so that lowers my chances already and my stats compared to many MIT hopefuls are fairly low. Well, what do u think?

Excellent essays and teacher/guidance recs.

Supplements:
I also submitted to MIT - general and music resumes, my research paper, evaluation from professors and research sponser at FSU, letters of rec from
my piano teacher and sister, and 4 additional academic teachers (in addition to the 2 required ones), a audio recording of my playing (piano), and a CD of my artwork slides (5 years training in visual arts), and additional essays about my future goals and community service experiences that I thought better represented me than the one I wrote for the actual application.

As you can see, a lot of my strengths lie in the sciences but a lot are also in the humanities. Do you think that will make me a more unique applicant?

Thanks

Asian male means it is stacked up against you. I don't think your SAT is high enough for our race/gender. That said, I don't think you will get in.

My SAT1 score was flipflopped the other direction, with a similar composite number, and I'm a Caucasian male who was admitted.

That said, nobody can judge chances from a list such as this one. It really is all about the essays and qualitative portions of the application. Your scores and grades will get you past the first cursory review - after which it really is "everything else" that will get you in.

Seems to me like you maybe went a little overboard with your supplemental stuff. Could work in your favor though.

Super super reach? I think not. Academically, you're definitely within the range for MIT. That said - you did go a bit overboard with the pile of supplemental recommendations. I dont think a recommendation from your sister would carry too much weight, unless it contains a very unique perspective.

Most MIT applicants pull their weight in humanities subjects and have a fair amount of interest in it. Now... if you were a published poet or novelist or something..... that might get you a second look. Also, a good 1/2 of the awards you listed are worth nearly nothing in college admissions - like Who's Who (that every teenager who can walk a straight line gets invited to), and all the school awards like "highest average", "best student", this and that. Your extra curriculars are a bit too academic-oriented -- NHS, JETS, Premed, Prelaw clubs. I'm interested by your visual arts though - what kind? drawing, painting, computer graphics...?

Other than the overload of recommendations, your supplements seem interesting enough. I sent a whole bunch of supplements in as well - but they weren't as much supplements as they were just extended answers to 13 and 14 on the application. Either way, keep your head up, you've got a shot. I hate to see fellow asians feeling sorry for themselves; self-pity is pathetic, and it'll never get you anywhere in the world.

Do you realize that most of that stuff will not even be read/looked at? The admissions people essentially glance over your stuff...like 10 minutes at the most. It's a bad idea to flood them with excessive amounts of stuff, especially things that are repetitive. Submitting 1 or 2 extra things that highlight your achievements is a good idea. Submitting 200000 things is a bad idea.
