Any chem majors out there?

Hey everyone!

Ok, this is going to sound weird...but I'm a PhD student in geology who needs to have a minor field to gradaute. My advisor said the earlier I get through it, the better. So...I need to start taking classes next semester.

My background:

Gen Chem 1 & 2 (5 years ago, getting a C and a B respectively)
A few Geochemistry courses (more geo than chem...I know a good bit about isotopes and isotopic dating)
Calc 3 (3 years ago...A-)
One year of Physics and a semester of Geophysics (5 years ago...B's)

Classes I'm deciding between:

Inorganic Chemistry
Physical Chem 1

Now...here is the question, what is the normal sequence for chem majors? Do most take inorganic chem before pchem, or does it even matter? I'm going to end up taking them both in the end, but want to minimize the pain of a super-hard class that I really don't need to worry about during the semester I'm scheduled to take my qualifying exam.

I was leaning towards inorganic, but am not sure as the prof specializes in bioinorganics, which is definately not what I study, as I study minerals.

Any suggestions?

Thanks! :)

I haven't taken either one, but Duke requires p-chem before inorganic or analytical chem.
