any colleges offer SPORTS/KINESIOLOGY major?

WITH a focus in gymnastics?

(not a focus in general sports studies, but in gymnastics specifically)

i cant find any so far...just a college in the UK :(

I imagine that not a lot of them will have a specific focus like that but you might have the option to tailor many of your projects on a specific sport like gymnastics, right?

im not exactly sure, but probably.

Cal Poly SLO has a kinesiology major:

[Home Page - Kinesiology Department - Cal Poly](http://www.calpoly.edu/~pek/)

http://www.catalog.calpoly.edu/2009pubcat/csm/kine_dept/kinedept.pdf

yeah, but they dont have any gymnastics classes at all

Springfield College in Massachusetts is definitely worth looking at. Also check out University of Maryland College Park.

Kinesiology is a term that has basically replaced “Phys Ed,” so you should find a Kinesiology major at most colleges. I’ve never heard of degrees in specific sports at any American colleges or universities.

What do you want to do in gymnastics? I don’t know if you will find colleges with courses in specific sports. But there may be upper level credit granted for coaching apprenticeships or other studies that would be granted in various sports. Perhaps being an apprentice with the college team or high school teams in the area. I think you may have to identify some schools with kinesiology majors and check the department web pages and course listings for those kinds of opportunites or email them.

Ithaca College has a Kinesiology program and a gymnastics team. I’m not sure about whether they offer gymnastics classes, but Cornell University (just 3 miles away) definitely does. They might have some sort of joint program available, or be able to set one up for you.

I have many Cornell classmates who took Accounting classes at IC before Cornell had enough of their own, and know of a guy who took classes in IC’s Kinesiology department while pursuing a Nutritional Sciences degree at Cornell.

Hope this helps!

The American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education ranked kinesiology programs. While the ranks are largely irrelevant, the list could help as a starting point.
