Is there a way to complain against a proctor? On the essay section, she was doing the timing from her cell phone instead of the wall clock. On the board she put 9:21, but stopped at the :16 on the wall clock when 3/4 of the class still thought there was five minutes. Many did not get to finish their essays because of the tim planning. I know we should have had our own watches, but that still isn't cool. Just want to see if there is a way that you can complain so she won't be a proctor again.

Gigante, that's exactly what happened with me. Except mine just couldn't tell time correctly. She said we had 5 more minutes when in reality we had none. Because of that I did not get to write my conclusion. Who arranges the room so that all desks are faced away from the wall clock?

You guys should file a complaint. They may not do anything with your scores, but at least the College Board will watch these centers more closely in the future to ensure that nothing like this will happen again. You, or other students, may benefit from that.

Just e-mail CollegeBoard?

to what whisperwind said, if she said you had five more minutes when in reality you had none, how would that affect your ability to write a conclusion?

I was wondering whether I should file a complaint against my proctor too.

Before the exam, he was instructed to close the classroom door. The boys volleyball team was practicing, and we were near the gym - so they assumed it would be a distraction. It was. He closed the door for the first 25 minutes as we wrote the essay, but come the second section, he opened it again.

All we heard were balls bouncing and there were guys who were walking in front of our room, talking, as if they didn't know the exam was being administered.

As if that wasn't bad enough, my proctor called one of the other teachers and began talking to her. As we took the exam, they talked - obviously, making it difficult for us to concentrate.

My proctor then decided he had to go to the bathroom and asked the lady to sit in for him and time us. She gave us about 10-12 minutes more than we were supposed to on a section. He came in and asked if she called time and she laughed and said "What? No." After this, he made it seem as if we had no extra time. (We did and were very aware of it. Most of us just sat there for that entire time.)

He came back into the room, stood in the front, and talked with that same lady throughout the entire SAT.

It really sucked, but I'll live.

if you had a wall clock, why didn't you just tell the proctor she made a mistake? My proctor stopped us 10 min earlier, but we all corrected her.

We had a wall clock, but the proctor arranged the room so that all desks faced away from the clock. Who arranges a room like that? Anyway, I did not bring a watch, and I pointed this out to her. She told us that she would keep time for us, so I trusted her. However, she can't tell time and thought the end time was 5 minutes later than the actual end time. And so, as I sat there was my completed introduction and 3 body paragraphs, she wrote up that we had 5 minutes remaining. I thought I'd take a minute or two, since I thought I had it, to think up a good conclusion. Instead, about 30 seconds later, the guy from the office told us to stop.
