Ok so I hate critical reading. Not so much the vocab as the actually comprehension. It's my worst section and it's keeping me from a 22-2300. So just a few questions. The Critical Reader by Erica Meltzer: is it worth it? Also where can I find practice sections? I don't want to use up all the practice tests from the blue book. Basically, I want to miss 5 or 6 comprehension questions in total and so far I miss about 7 or 8. Any advice would be appreciated.

if i were you, just go to the local library and borrow those books and take the tests in them.

If you’re fine with your other sections, it looks like you don’t need the full-length test practice. This was me all throughout junior year, and I think I only did one full-length all year. As a result, just use up the Blue Book tests, but do one untimed section at a time. Read the passages slowly and work hard to find the correct answer. If you do a couple sections like this, your accuracy should improve, and when you resort back to timed tests, you’ll do well.

Also, make sure that your vocab errors are 0. Since you just want to get up into the 700s and you’re only 1-2 questions away, this is a crucial factor, as every point matters. Try an inexpensive app like Mindsnacks (Apple app store) to brush up on vocab and/or a (free) website like number2.com to test your vocab.

Because of where you’re at and based on what I’ve heard from other forum users, it seems that you probably won’t benefit to the maximum with Erica Meltzer’s, although you could try her website (which has several resources) for free: A closer look at "being" - The Critical Reader. But, really make sure that you have perfected your other sections. With an 800 on Math and Writing, you could get what you have been getting on CR and still score in your goal score range.

Hope this helps! Good Luck! :)
