hello i'm a prospective international applicant to wustl this year... just wondering if there are any fellow intels out there who were accepted into wustl in previous years to give me some idea about my chances and the prospects of finaid... i've got this impression that wustl gives a higher weightage to SAT scores than do its peers (maybe in a bid to further raise its usnews ranking... though there's nothing wrong with dat certainly). how were the SAT scores of accepted intels like? esp those who are applying for finaid? and how generous is wustl with intel finaid? i've heard that they are esp generous to kids they really want to attract but how generous is generous really and how competitive an applicant must u be...? i probably require at least 95% aid to attend wustl and i have rather modest SAT I (1480 old, waiting for OCT results with apprehension...), strong academic records (straight As except one B...), soso extracurriculars but nothing really spectacular... any information or comments would be highly appreciated!

a 1480 SAT is not rather modest, its still a good score even by Wash U standards. I have a 1430, but comparing to wash U, my score looks baddddddddd.

anyway, i have the same question on my mind. how generous! smbody help! anybody!!

ppl!! ive been trying to get the answer to this since a while now

and yea, wash U places a very heavy weightage on SAT scores, and you being intl, i think you have a rather fair chance of getting in.

the amount of aid is what worries me as well!

Student Population Of all full-time matriculated undergraduates who enrolled, 4209 applied for aid, 2710 were judged to have need, 2673 had their need fully met. 1287 Federal Work-Study jobs (averaging $1873) Average percent of need met: 100%

they claim to have no maximum and no minimum need based aid. i guess the only way to find out is to apply. you applying ed 1?

juz got my SAT scores... which were a total flop... dun think i'm applying washu anymore...

dude, i'm applying with a 1430, dont see why you with a 1480 shouldn't if its your dream school.

and if you dont wanna show your second SAT score you dont have to. if you already have an official printed copy of your previous SAT score, then you can simply attest that from your school and send it. I dont know how things work at your end, whether you'll pay college board to send the scores, or your school attests it. Here, in Nepal, 9 $ per score (or is it 7) is itself quite a huge amount, and multiplying that by around 8 to 10. So, our counsellor just makes photocopies of our printed versions, attests them and sends it with the package.

actually i've sent my old scores to WUSTL before even taking the new SAT already... so actually if can just hide my new score if i want to. budden i think being such an average applicant, even if i were to be accepted, i wouldn't get a lot of aid and so i won't be able to attend anyway. and if i were to apply to wustl i would be applying for the merit based scholarships as well, which would require a lot of effort coz there are so many essays to write. besides there are quite a number of people from my country applying to wustl without requesting for aid so i dun see why they would choose them over me (esp when their qualifications are so similar to, if not better than, mine.) so i think i should juz reserve my energy and money for other colleges... anw dat means one less competitor for u so u shd be glad :) gd luck!

so where will ya apply, if ya dont mind me asking
