Any D1 athletes out here? (D1-AAA,D1-AA)

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there were any any D1 athletes on here and if they could give me some tips on surviving college as one. I will be going to a D1-AAA school on a track scholarship for throwing and i want to know what things i can do or not do to ensure success.

1AAA? Not sure that that exists...

Depends on the sport. I have a few friends who are D-1 athletes both guys and girls and I would deffinitely say it depends on your discipline and what sport you play. If you could specify the sport I might be able to share their experience with you.

Im gonna be playing frisbee golf in D1-AAAAAA

D1-AAA does not exist...

I'm doing D3 Swimming, and I know some D1 athletes. Be prepared to do athletics with school on the side. Athletics will be your priority. You might not have much of a social life, other than with your team. I'm serious, my conversation with my D1 swimmer friend:

Me: So, how's school going?
Her: Oh yeah, it's fine. It's tough with all the practices, but I get by.
Me: So, meet any nice friends? Any cute guys?
Her: No, I don't have a social life. Swimming is my life.

Doing D1 sports is great, but just not for me. Yay D3!

d1aaa is used in reference to d1 schools without football programs. other than this characteristic, these schools have little in common athletically. (there are d1aaa schools competing athletically at both very high (big east) and very low levels as far as d1 goes.)

Actually D1-AAA does exist...people are just flooding the thread with "No it doesn't exist..." please stick to giving tips only

And thanks for clearing that up EricatBucknell i wasnt sure what the AAA part meant and got a little worries i was going to sign at a lower program

Stop whining. No one cares about schools without football teams anyway...

diontechristmas go post somewhere else if you are going to talk down about sports that arent your favorite and about a sport that harbors the best athletes in the world (ones a hell of a lot better than you are). This is not the place to be immature if you want to do that go to the 4chan forums im sure they have room for people like you in there.

LOL nice. I have several friends at DI-AAA schools, who are on the track teams. In fact, I attended a DI-AAA university. And I would never be caught dead posting on /B/. Never.

I know everyone and their mom says this, but it is important: time management. So get your work done and make sure you have that 2.0 GPA to stay eligible for track. Since you're a thrower, your Fall should be where you hit your heavy load coursework. In the spring, take a lighter load so you can focus on throwing and not have to worry about missing too much school for away meets. Take some summer classes if you have to.

Also, plan your class schedule around your practice times. Since you're a student-athlete, you'll probably get early registration before everyone else. So plan accordingly and don't waste time because you don't want to be waitlisted for class and become ineligible because you're under the unit requirement.

However, if you plan on redshirting and staying for 5 years, then plan your courses with that in mind.

Good luck with your college career.
